Lancaster Bible College Men's Basketball squad suffered a crushing 80-72 loss against United East rival Penn St. Harrisburg on Saturday afternoon. The Chargers are now 10-9 on the year and stand at 4-2 in conference play. The Lions hold a 16-3 record this season and a 6-0 record in the United East.
How It Happened: After
Connor Storr put the first points up on the board for the Chargers, the Lions stringed together a run to give them an 11-4 lead just over four minutes into the game. Trailing by nine,
Luke Rumbaugh drilled a three to start a comeback for Lancaster Bible, and the team managed to make it a two-point deficit halfway through the first half. Unfortunately, Penn St. Harrisburg responded with a powerful ten minutes of play as they carried a 37-30 lead into halftime.
Penn St. Harrisburg started the second half just like they finished and managed to maintain a nine-point lead through the first four minutes. The Chargers, backed by
Grant Sareyka, mounted a 6-0 run in just under 10 seconds to make it a 42-45 game. Both sides continued to trade buckets as the Lions maintained a six-point lead for a handful of minutes, but they soon pulled away to a 63-49 lead with eight minutes remaining. Harrisburg held a 13-point lead with just 3:27 remaining, but the Chargers would not go down without a fight, cutting the deficit down to five in two minutes. Lancaster Bible ended up just short of an outstanding comeback, losing 80-72 to Penn St. Harrisburg.
