Game Recap: Field Hockey | | Hunter Gerber

Mustangs Too Much for Chargers

The Lancaster Bible College Field Hockey team hosted the Stevenson Mustangs on Tuesday night following their 2-1 win over Southern Virginia Saturday. The Mustangs were too much for the Chargers as they went on to win 7-0. The Chargers fall to 2-9 overall while the Mustangs improve to 9-0-1 on the season.

How It Happened: The Mustangs scored just under three minutes into the game and kept the pressure for the remainder of the game as they added another just before the period was over. They would go on to a 4-0 lead at halftime after adding two more goals in the second period.

Opening the second half was the Mustangs again who'd push the lead to 6-0 on the night. Any potential Chargers attacks were thwarted as the Mustangs maintained possession for most of the game. Adding another goal in the final period, the Mustangs went on to a 7-0 win.

From the Coach: "I am proud of how our team played tonight against a top-notch opponent," said Head Coach Becky Elliott. "Our defense worked hard and while the score might not show it, they did a great job of staying with a high-powered offense. This was a good game to help us prepare for the start of conference."

By the Numbers: The Chargers were outshot 25-0… the Mustangs had 11 corners while the Chargers had 10 saves… Emma Gladstein had a game high two goals for the Chargers.

Up Next: The Chargers open conference play this Friday, October 4 at St. Mary's (Md.) at 6:30 p.m.
