Chargers Fall in Conference Opener

The Lancaster Bible College Field Hockey traveled to St. Mary's City, Md. on Friday night for their United East Conference opener against the Seahawks of St. Mary's (Md.). The Chargers lost 7-0 falling to 2-10 overall and 0-1 in conference while the Seahawks improve to 3-7 overall and 1-0 in conference.

How It Happened: The Seahawks started early scoring their first 2:42 in the first period to take an early 1-0 lead. Despite the early goal, the Chargers tallied five total saves in the first period alone. Goalkeeper Amanda Hoover notched eight saves for the game while defender Hailey Whitmoyer added another defensive save. The Seahawks went on to score two more before halftime to end the first half 4-0.

Coming out of the second half the Seahawks were able to score three more goals in the first eight minutes of the second period to push the lead 7-0. Despite the Chargers best efforts the Seahawks proved too much as they went on to win 7-0.

By the Numbers: The Chargers were outshot 26-1… the Seahawks had 11 corners… the Chargers tallied eight saves on the game… Brenna Ziegler and Emma Watkins scored two goals each for the home team.

Up Next: The Chargers keep on the conference road heading to La Plume, Pa. on Friday, October 11 to matchup with Keystone.
