Game Recap: Field Hockey | | Hunter Gerber

Chargers Fall at Wilson in Season Finale

The Lancaster Bible College Field Hockey team traveled to Chambersburg, Pa. for a matchup with the Wilson Phoenix, the last United East Conference game of the season. The Chargers end the 2024 campaign 2-15 overall and 0-5 in conference while Wilson improves to 11-3 overall and 4-0 in conference.

How It Happened: The Chargers squared off against a tough Wilson team playing strong defensively in the first half giving up only two goals for the first half. The Chargers saw some offensive action in the beginning of the second period but it wasn't enough as they headed to overtime with a 2-0 deficit.

The Chargers saw the same level of attack as the Phoenix continued to press towards the goal. Despite several chances, the Chargers defense held strong giving up another two goals to lose 4-0.

From the Coach: "We are so proud of their effort today," said Head Coach Becky Elliott. "They adjusted well to the grass that it wasn't a factor in the play. There was all-out effort from everyone, that we made them work hard for their goals. It is sad that this was the last game for our four seniors, but they have made a tremendous impact on this program and they will be greatly missed. We can say goodbye to 2024 knowing that we played hard, played together, and played ALL FOR H1M"

By the Numbers: The Chargers were outshot 23-1… the Chargers had 11 saves on the day… the penalty corners were 14-4 in favor of the Phoenix… four different players scored for the Phoenix.

This concludes the 2024 season for the Chargers Field Hockey program. Congratulations to Haley Stahl, Mattie Krieg, Alexis Gilbert, and Molly Gray for their Chargers career.
