Offensive Outburst Paces Dickinson Past Chargers

The Lancaster Bible College Baseball team hosted the Dickinson Red Devils on Tuesday afternoon, their third game in five days, losing 22-6. The Chargers fall to 1-2 overall while the Red Devils win their first game of the season.

How It Happened: The Red Devils didn't waste any time as a three-run homer in the top of the 1st inning gave them an early 3-0 lead. Looking to rebound from Monday's loss, the Chargers rattled off five 1st inning runs beginning with a home run from sophomore Dylan Witkowski and capitalized by a two-run home run from freshman Nick Colarossi.

With a 5-3 lead after just an inning of play, the Red Devils managed to score the next 11 runs through five innings of play. A few pitching changes and home runs later, the Chargers faced a 14-5 deficit in the bottom of the 5th inning. Sophomore Harrison Hobdy homered in the bottom of the 5th to end the Charger drought, but the Red Devils went on to score eight more runs before the game was called in the 6th inning due to visibility.

By the Numbers: The Chargers tallied seven hits for six runs and six RBIs… the Red Devils registered 17 hits for 22 runs and 20 RBIs… Blake Greenly and Colarossi notched two hits each as Colarossi went deep for the second time this season… Sigmon for Dickinson had three hits including two home runs and eight RBIs… the Chargers had six from the bullpen for seven strikeouts… starting pitcher Andrew Workman got the loss… Peichel got the win.

Up Next: The Chargers have just two days break before hosting Hood on Friday, March 1 at 3:00 p.m.
