The Lancaster Bible College Baseball team hosted their third and final opponent of the week in a non-conference bout with the Hood Blazers. The Chargers lost 18-4 and fall to 1-3 on the season while the Blazers improve to 4-2 overall.
How It Happened: The first two innings to open the day turned out to be scoreless until the Blazers opened the top of the third with a five-run spurt. The Chargers were unable to respond, going three up, three down to end the third inning.
Keeping their momentum offensively, the Blazers cranked out nine total runs over the next two innings leading to a 15-0 deficit for the Chargers after six innings. The Chargers managed to score four in the bottom of the sixth as
Micah Sloane and
Shane Stephan homered and
Owen Shimmel singled through the right side, bringing in
Evan Sareyka and
Blake Greenly.
The Blazers scored three runs in the seventh as the Blazers got their third home run of the game, leading to an 18-4 final score after seven innings.
By the Numbers: The Chargers had five hits with four runs and four RBIs… the Blazers tallied 12 hits for 18 runs and 15 RBIs…
Blake Greenly went 2-3 with one run… Shimmel had two RBIs… multiple Blazers tallied two hits each while Schwarzman had four RBIs…
Dylan Witkowski struck out five… Alexander for Hood got the win with seven strikeouts.
