Chargers Split Golden Tornadoes Down South

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Lancaster Bible College Baseball team is the fourth and final team to open competition in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina this week, winning game one handly 12-3 before losing game two 7-1. The Chargers move to 2-4 overall to start the season while Geneva sits 1-1 overall.

Game One, 12-3 Win

How It Happened: The Chargers started early and kept it going in game one scoring nine runs through three innings giving them a 9-0 lead. In those nine runs, the Chargers got RBI hits from Harrison Hobdy, Blake Greenly, Dylan Witkowski, Nick Colarossi, and Brian Coburn. Greenly threw a shutout through the first three innings, striking out three. The Golden Tornadoes earned three runs on the board in the fourth but it wasn't enough as the Chargers got three more runs including a home run from Malachi Sloane in the 6th inning to win 12-3.

By the Numbers: The Chargers tallied 14 hits for 12 runs and 11 RBIs… Geneva was limited to six hits for three runs and three RBIs… Evan Sareyka and Dylan Witkowski had three hits each while Hobdy and Witkowski had three RBIs each… Sareyka had a game-high three stolen bases… Greenly and Bronson combined to limit the Golden Tornadoes to six hits and three runs striking out four batters.
Game Two, 7-1 Loss

How It Happened: Looking to keep the bats rolling, the Chargers scored early in the top of the first inning as Witkowski laid down a sacrifice bunt to score Sareyka. Geneva scored three runs of their own leading to a 3-1 deficit for the Chargers after five innings of play. Unable to get the offensive game going, the momentum shifted as Geneva scored four more runs in the bottom of the 6th inning on four hits. Facing a six run deficit, the Chargers looked to rally but were unable to in the top of the 7th inning leading to a 7-1 loss.

By the Numbers: The Chargers were held to three hits for one run and one RBI… the Tornadoes had nine hits for seven runs and seven RBIs… Sareyka and Witkowski had a double each while Hobdy added a single… Geneva had three with homeruns including Sackett who went 3-4… Andrew Workman took the loss after five innings pitched and five hits.

Up Next: The Chargers take on United East Skye Division Saint Elizabeth in a double-header tomorrow, March 5 at 12:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
