Lancaster Bible College Men's Volleyball team lost a competitive 3-1 match against Rutgers-Newark on the road. The Chargers fall to 4-11 on the year, still yet to face a conference opponent. On the other hand, the Scarlet Raiders move just above .500 to an 8-7 record.
How It Happened: The first set was packed with action as both sides traded points back and forth, seeing seven tied scores and five lead changes until Rutgers-Newark pulled out to a 12-11 lead. During that span,
Jordan Yoder led the Chargers with three kills. The Scarlet Raiders pulled together five unanswered points and continued to rally to a late lead. Despite a late push, the Chargers lost the first set 25-19. Rutgers-Newark came into the second set storming, and they held a 15-4 lead quickly. Kills by
Dawson Forney and Yoder brought the set back to a single-digit deficit, but the Scarlet Raiders finished off the set, defeating the Chargers 25-13.
In the third set, Rutgers-Newark held a slight lead over Lancaster Bible, but the Chargers would not go down without a fight. After being tied at 11, Forney's two kills along with the rest of the Chargers rallied a 10-2 run.
DJ Omogrosso finished off the third set with a service ace, as the team won the set 25-14. The fourth set started competitive like the rest of them, tied at eight early. The Scarlet Raiders got out to a 14-10 lead, but a trio of kills from Forney shortened the gap. The Chargers continued to fight their way back and tied the set at 17. Rutgers-Newark ended the fourth and final set with an 8-2 run and won 25-20 to win the match 3-1.
