The Lancaster Bible College Baseball team completed their three-game sweep over United East Conference foe, the St. Mary's (Md.) Seahawks, on Saturday with a 17-7 win. The Chargers improve to 15-5-1 overall and 7-1-1 in conference while the Seahawks fall to 4-13 overall and 2-6 in conference.
How It Happened: The Chargers faced an early 6-0 deficit through three innings of play to open the day on Saturday. It wasn't until a three-run shot from
Harrison Hobdy in the bottom of the third that opened the scoring window for the Chargers. Over the next four innings the Chargers proceeded to post 14 total runs with six of them coming off an explosive sixth inning.
The pitching between
Noah Day,
Nehemiah Brubacher, and
Logan Kline gave up just three runs in the last five innings.
Blake Greenly closed the game out in the bottom of the 7
th inning on a single to short that brought in
Shane Stephan and
Brian Coburn leading to a 17-7 mercy rule after seven innings of play.
By the Numbers: The Chargers had 14 hits for 17 runs and 16 RBIs… the Seahawks had 10 hits for seven runs and six RBIs… Greenly went 4-5 with three runs and four RBIs… Hobdy post four RBIs as well…
Josh Hudson notched two hits with three RBIs and
Brian Coburn had three hits for four runs and three RBIs… Brubacher got the win on the mound, his first of the season.
