Chargers Baseball Edged By Abington

The Lancaster Bible baseball team traveled to Penn St. Abington and fell 4-3. The Chargers are now 15-6-1 this year and drop to 7-2-1 in the United East. The Nittany Lions improved to 6-15 overall and 3-3 in the conference.

How It Happened: The first inning started strong for the Chargers with Blake Greenly hitting a double on his first at-bat. Evan Sareyka later followed with a single to send Greenly home to take a 1-0 lead. After both sides posted zero in the second inning, the Greenly-Sareyka duo struck again, both doubling as the Chargers led 2-0. However, Penn St. Abington quickly responded with two runs in the same inning to tie it up.

Andrew Workman held the Nittany Lions to zero through innings four and five including two strikeouts, and it wasn't until the seventh inning that either side got another run. Harrison Hobdy singled for an RBI for Lancaster Bible to go up 3-2, but the Nittany Lions answered again to tie it at three going into the eighth inning. After Lancaster Bible failed to put up a run in the eighth, Abington took a one-run lead following a home run. Unfortunately, the Chargers failed to put a run in the ninth and final inning and lost 4-3.
