Baseball Charges Past Valley Forge in Offensive Explosion

The Lancaster Bible College Baseball team posted just 12 runs over four games last week, that wasn't the case on Monday afternoon as the Chargers raked in 31 total runs to beat the Valley Forge Patriots 31-10. The Chargers improve to 16-12-1 overall while the Patriots drop to 14-23 overall.

How It Happened: The Patriots were the first to find the scoreboard scoring four runs in the first inning. The Chargers scored their first two runs in the bottom of the inning to close the deficit 4-2. Trailing 5-2 after three innings, the Chargers bats came alive in the third inning, scoring 14 total runs including two grand slams from Jack Nance and Nick Colarossi to take the lead 16-5.

The Chargers continued the offensive prowess, scoring another 15 runs through nine innings of play. Those nine innings included too much to list out, but most notably six home runs, 14 total hits, and eight stolen bases. The Chargers were also walked 22 times on the day.

By the Numbers: The Chargers had 14 hits for 31 runs and 30 RBIs… the Patriots had 11 hits for 10 runs and seven RBIs… Jack Nance highlighted the day with two home runs and seven total RBIs… Colarossi added five RBIs and Witkowski, Hudson had four RBIs each… Nehemiah Brubacher (2-0) got the win on the mound after allowing just one hit.
