The Lancaster Bible College Men's Basketball team went on to win their third straight game on Wednesday night in a convincing 93-63 win over Penn St. Abington. The Chargers move to 12-6 overall and 7-2 in the United East while the Lions drop to 2-16 overall and 1-8 in conference.
Camden Hurst got the night started with a jumper to put the Chargers up 2-0, but the two teams continued to battle it out finding themselves tied 9-9 just five minutes into the game. In the next five minutes the Chargers put together a 16-0 run fueled by solid defensive play and quick transition. The Chargers continued to keep pace through the rest of the first half heading to the locker room with a 43-21 lead.
The second half started the same way the first half ended as a three-pointer from
Grant Sareyka got the scoring started for the Chargers. The Chargers continued to stifle the Lions offense allowing only six points in the first five minutes of play while the Chargers grew their lead to as much as 31 points during that span. Continuing to keep their 30-point margin, the Chargers reached a 37 point lead on a three-pointer from
Connor Storr with 6:20 left. Able to get several subs in the game, the Chargers saw buckets from
Mark Heidebrecht and
Evan Milanesi to end the game.
The Chargers shot 47 percent from the field and 24 percent from three but scored 58 points in the paint and 32 second chance points off a season high 20 offensive rebounds. The Lions shot 39 percent from the floor and 43 percent from three but turned the ball over 26 times. Three Chargers were in double figures with
Grant Sareyka,
Connor Storr, and
Camden Hurst scoring 14 points.
Mark Heidebrecht added eight points and
Evan Milanesi scored five points. Don Hairston had 13 points for the Lions.
