The Lancaster Bible College Men's Basketball team hosted the Penn St. Berks Lions on Saturday afternoon earning their eighth United East Conference win of the season, 101-78. On the day, the Chargers not only celebrated Coach
Jon Mack's 100
th career win at Lancaster Bible but also former athletic director Pete Beers who served 25 years in Chargers athletics. The Chargers improve to 13-6 on the year and 8-2 in conference while the Lions fall to 5-12 overall and 4-6 in conference.
How It Happened: The Lions were the first to find the scoreboard putting three points on the board before
Jordan Praylow responded with a three-pointer of his own, his first of four on the day. The two squads continued to trade points and the lead up until the ten-minute mark in the first half when back-to-back layups from
Luke Rumbaugh began a 15-0 run to put the Chargers up 35-21. Â The Lions looked to chip away, but steady points from
Camden Hurst and
Connor Storr and a layup from
Maureon Tisdale-Couch at the end of the half put the halftime score at 48-34 for the Chargers.
Praylow again started the half with a three-pointer before Rumbaugh had an emphatic putback dunk to put the Chargers up 16. Hurst secured two steals, both of which the Chargers converted, to reach a 20-point lead, 57-37. The lead grew to as much as 30 points in favor of the Chargers as a steal from
Tyshaun Pulley and layup from
Daniel King brought the score to 92-62. The Chargers went on to win 101-78.
By the Numbers: The Chargers shot 50-percent from the field, 28-percent from three, and 60-percent from the line… the Lions shot 44-percent from the field, 26-percent from three, and 77-percent from the line… the Chargers scored 56 points in the paint and forced 21 turnovers, scoring 27 points off them… Hurst led the Chargers with 19 points, six steals, and four assists… Praylow had a career-high 16 points going 4-4 from three-point land… Rumbaugh had the Chargers' first double-double of the season with 15 points, 11 rebounds, and five assists… Josh Mingledolph had 22 points for the Lions.
