Field Hockey Drops Home Match to Wilson

The Lancaster Bible College Field Hockey team hosted a United East contest against Wilson on Tuesday afternoon, losing by a score of 5-2. The Chargers fall to 2-10 overall and 0-3 in conference while the Phoenix improve to 5-7 overall and 2-0 in conference.

How it Happened:
The Chargers earned a penalty corner just over six minutes into the game, with junior Riley Danko firing a shot that missed wide. Wilson drew the next corner, then had a series of shots that were saved by senior Amanda Hoover before the Phoenix connected on a score in the 12th minute to open up the scoring. Just over two minutes later, Wilson found a hole in the defense and passed it around for a score to take a 2-0 lead heading into the quarter break.

Within the first six minutes of the second quarter, the Phoenix tacked on two more goals to extend their lead to four, then towards the end of the half the Chargers began to find rhythm on offense. The Chargers drew a corner and were able to convert on a score as freshman Bailey Simmons sent a pass into the circle that was deflected into the goal by freshman Rebekah Hoover to get the Chargers on the board. With about a minute left, Danko sent a pass into the circle that Hoover knocked into the goal for another score, bringing the Chargers within two at halftime.

Wilson had several shots and corners in third quarter, but the Chargers' defense held strong with Hoover making a save as the final period saw a 4-2 Wilson advantage. The Phoenix were able to tack on in the fourth quarter with another score just over a minute in, but the Chargers continued to push as they drew two more corners in the game. In the final minute, Hoover had a shot on goal that was saved, then the clock ran out on a 5-2 Wilson victory.
