The Lancaster Bible College Women's Volleyball team had another home United East match on Thursday night as they hosted Cairn, getting a 3-1 victory. The Chargers move to 7-9 overall and 2-1 in conference while the Highlanders drop to 11-3 and 2-1 in conference.
How it Happened:
The Chargers opened it up early in set one with a seven-point run, featuring a kill and a block by junior
Eden Belford along with a service ace from senior
Madison Timberlake to put LBC up 9-3. Another three-point run kept the lead after two kills from sophomore
Madison Reap, then Reap landed a service ace to put the Chargers up 19-11. Junior
Lea Sareyka closed out the set with a service ace to win 25-15.
The second set began quite differently as the Highlanders got out to a big 6-0 lead, but the Chargers fought back quick as they pulled within two off a Timberlake ace to end a five-point spurt. Two kills by junior
Jessica Fletcher helped tie the set at 10-10, but Cairn maintained the edge as they got back out to a six-point lead. Late in the set, Reap knocked three kills in a row to pull the Chargers back into the set at 23-23, then fended off a set point on a kill by Fletcher. The Chargers took the lead twice for set point, but Cairn strung a kill, ace, and block all in a row to grab a 28-26 set win after extra points.
Lancaster Bible seized an 8-1 lead in set three after three aces from Timberlake helped highlight a seven-point early run. Freshman
Ashby Brummer got in on the action with a kill to cap a four-point tear for the Chargers, then another run of six points later in the set put it far out of reach at 22-8. The set ended on a kill from senior
Riley Dodrer, winning it 25-10.
Like the third set, LBC began with an 8-1 advantage with kills from Sareyka, Brummer and Fletcher pushing the deficit. The Chargers led by as many as 13 points in the set as they rolled comfortably to a 25-12 set win with the match sealed on a block by Belford for another LBC conference win.
