Men’s Basketball Defeats EMU in Home Win

The Lancaster Bible College Men's Basketball team hosted their final home game of the 2025 calendar year on Monday afternoon as they played Eastern Mennonite, winning by a score of 83-69. The Chargers improve to 7-2 overall and 1-0 in the United East while the Royals drop to 2-7 overall and 0-2 in the ODAC.

How it Happened:
The Chargers struggled to score out of the gate as the Royals raced to an 8-0 advantage, holding LBC scoreless for the first four minutes before senior Nile Austin knocked down a corner three to end the drought. Eastern Mennonite built their lead to nine over the next minute, then senior Luke Rumbaugh scored the next five for the Chargers with a made three and a pull-up jumper. EMU kept the lead around five points for the next seven minutes or so until junior Camden Hurst got a layup to go, then Austin and senior Mark Heidebrecht made buckets to get the deficit to just three at 24-21. The Royals got it back to six, but a 6-0 run from the Chargers erased the deficit to tie the game at 27 after junior Connor Storr got his first bucket of the game. The Chargers took their first lead of the game with three minutes left in the half as Rumbaugh drove to the paint for a score, then Storr found Rumbaugh again on the next possession for an easy layup for a three-point lead. The Chargers were able to take a one-point lead into halftime as they led 32-31.

The Chargers opened the second half on a 7-0 run as Storr and sophomore Bennett Bowers powered the run. The Royals quickly pulled back within four, then the Chargers launched an 11-point run powered by three 3-pointers by Rumbaugh, Austin, and freshman Jacob Lewis as LBC took a commanding 15-point lead. Rumbaugh hit another three for the largest lead of the game at 17 points, then EMU began to chip away as they cut the lead to single-digits around the nine-minute mark at 57-49. The Royals kept pushing as they fought to within six points several times, but Hurst and Storr stepped up with big shots to fend them off. The Chargers were able to seal the deal as they got a 14-point victory to end the 2025 portion of the home schedule unbeaten at 4-0.
