Baseball Splits Season Opener Versus Geneva

The Lancaster Bible College Baseball team opened their 2025 campaign on Saturday with a doubleheader against the Geneva Golden Tornadoes winning game one off a walk-off in the bottom of the 7th inning, 14-13, before falling 13-2 in the second game. The Chargers and the Golden Tornadoes start the season 1-1 after opening weekend.

Game One, 14-13 Win
It was a slug fest from the start with 27 total runs scored in the first game. The Golden Tornadoes were the first to find the scoreboard scoring two runs in the top of the 1st inning. The Chargers scored one run in the bottom of the inning as Malachi Sloane hit a sacrifice fly to right field to score Evan Sareyka. It was the third inning that pushed the Chargers ahead as they poured in seven total runs beginning with a three-run shot from Sareyka, his first of three homeruns for the game. Sareyka and freshman Donavan Boles hit back to back two run homers in the 5th and 6th inning to push the Chargers lead to 12-3.

However, the Golden Tornadoes put themselves in prime position scoring 10 runs in the top of the 7th inning to reclaim the lead 13-12. Facing a critical bottom of the inning, the Chargers came in clutch as Sareyka opened the inning with his third homerun of the game to tie it at 13-13. Dylan Witkowski managed to get on base from a walk, and with the winning run on base Micah Sloane doubled to bring in Witkowski and the winning run.
