Chargers Split Conference Opener

The Lancaster Bible College Baseball team hosted the St. Mary's (Md) Seahawks on Saturday afternoon for their first United East action of the 2025 season splitting the doubleheader. The Chargers fell in game one 15-10 before dominating in game two, 19-1. The Chargers are now 8-8 overall and 1-1 in conference while the Seahawks move to 1-9 overall and 1-1 in conference.

Game One, 15-10 Loss
The Seahawks took the first lead of the day 2-0 in the top of the 2nd inning. The Chargers took their first lead in the bottom of the 3rd inning as Owen Shimmel's three run homerun tied the game at 4-4. Donovan Boles followed it up with a single to right to score Micah Sloane and take a 5-4 lead.

The Seahawks were quick to retake the lead as they poured in 10 runs through the next three innings to take a 14-5 lead. The Chargers looked for another run in the 7th and 8th inning as Nick Colarossi had a solo homerun and Dylan Witkowski and Micah Sloane had RBI doubles, but it wasn't enough as the Seahawks walked to a 15-10 win.

Game Two, 19-1 Win
It was a seven run first inning that got things rolling for the Chargers in game two of the day. Evan Sareyka opened the game with a three run shot to give the Chargers an early 3-0 lead. Nick Colarossi followed suit with a two-run homerun to bump the lead to 5-0. Several walks later and the Chargers found themselves with a 7-0 lead.

The Chargers continued to keep their bats hot scoring another eight runs in the 2nd and 3rd innings. Several key singles from Everett Bell, Shane Stephan, and Donovan Boles and more walks gave the Chargers a 15-0 lead through three innings. The Chargers went on to win 19-1 and their first conference game.
