How it Happened:
Each team went down 1-2-3 in the first, then the Chargers got two baserunners in the second but couldn't score. The Chargers rallied in the third inning to plate a run as the bases loaded resulted in a RBI-single by senior
Owen Shimmel, scoring junior
Dylan Witkowski to give LBC the lead. Cairn matched that in the fourth inning with a run to tie the score at 1-1, then added another later in the sixth inning to take their first lead at 2-1.
The Chargers responded in the bottom of the sixth, loading the bases once again where freshman
Everett Bell delivered a two-run single to right center to swing the lead back to Lancaster Bible at 3-2 heading into the seventh. The Highlanders made their mark in the top of the seventh, getting to the Chargers' defense as they drew a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch to tie the score at three and used an error to plate two more runs and go up 5-3 in the game. Another run came across for Cairn in the ninth inning, putting the Chargers down three with three outs to go. With two outs in the inning, sophomore
Shane Stephan singled up the middle, then junior
Evan Sareyka pulled off an infield single, scoring Bell to cut the lead to two. The rally would end there as a strikeout ended the game 6-4 for the Highlanders.
