Chargers Fall in Dramatic Showdown to Patriots

The Lancaster Bible College Baseball team hit the road on Thursday for a non-conference matchup with the Valley Forge Patriots falling 11-10 in the bottom of the 9th inning. The Chargers move to 13-13 overall while the Patriots improve to 8-16 on the year.

How It Happened: The Chargers jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead in the top of the 2nd inning. Owen Shimmel, Micah Sloane, Donovan Boles, and Malachi Sloane all scored in the inning. Despite the deficit, the Chargers climbed back to take the lead 8-4 after scoring eight runs between the 3rd and 5th innings.

A 7th inning rally from the Chargers tied the game once again as Boles scored off a wild pitch to earn their eighth run of the game. The two teams traded runs until the end of the game tying the game twice. It was the 9th inning that proved to be the most entertaining as Everett Bell sent a single to score Joey Stein and tie the game at 10-10. Looking to send the game into extra innings, it was the Patriots that grabbed the walk off run to win 11-10.
