The Lancaster Bible College Baseball team traveled to Rosemont, Pa. to take on Rosemont in United East play, crushing the Ravens 16-0 behind a seven-inning shutout by sophomore
Noah Robinette. The Chargers improve to 16-13 overall and 6-2 in conference while the Ravens fall to 8-18 overall and 2-6 in conference.
How it Happened:
After a scoreless first inning, the Chargers got the bats going in the second as three straight hits led to a two-RBI double by sophomore
Nate Rosenzweig, putting the Chargers up 2-0. Another double by junior
Dylan Witkowski scored a run, then junior
Evan Sareyka reached on a fielder's choice to score Witkowski, ending the inning with a four-run lead. The third inning saw a game-high six runs come across the plate, starting with both Rosenzweig and freshman
Everett Bell hit grounders to score runs. Then, Witkowski knocked a single to drive in a run to make it a 7-0 lead, then Sareyka hit a two-run single and Shimmel drove in a run on a flyout for a 10-0 Charger lead after three innings.
The Chargers continued to pad their lead in the fourth inning as three more runs came across the plate, then
Noah Robinette pitched a 1-2-3 inning in the bottom frame. Sareyka had a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning to add another, then two runs scored on an error in the seventh inning to wrap the scoring and finish off the game 16-0.
By the Numbers:
- The Chargers scored 16 runs on 13 hits, drawing 11 total walks and committing no errors
- The Ravens managed just two hits and were kept off the scoreboard, committing four errors
