The National Christian College Athletic Association announced their Mid-East Award Winners and All-Regions teams with the Chargers naming four to the postseason list. Juniors
Evan Sareyka and
Dylan Witkowski headlined the way earning First Team All-Region. Senior
Owen Shimmel and junior
Noah Robinette earned Second Team All-Region as starting pitchers.
Witkowski led the way for the Chargers with a team best .443 batting average, 62 hits, and 60 runs. He also added in 33 runs batted in and 12 stolen bases for the season. A consistent force at the plate, Witkwoski finished amongst the top ten of the NCCAA in several statistical categories including first in on-base percentage
(.595) and second in batting average.
Sareyka also had a stellar year from the plate for the Chargers finishing the season with a career best .374 batting average with 61 hits and a team best 62 runs batted in. He also finished with a team best 12 homeruns on the year. Sareyka's 62 runs batted in ranks him 8
th in the NCCAA and 9
th in the NCAA Division III.
A two-way force for the Chargers, Shimmel had a strong showing on the mound finishing the year with a 5-3 record and 6.37 earned run average. The senior dished out 28 strikeouts in 53 total innings. He also hit .295 from the plate tallying 33 hits, 31 runs batted in, and 20 runs.
In his first season with the Chargers, Robinette finished with a team best 4.67 earned run average and 4-3 overall record. Appearing in 15 games and starting in nine of them, Robinette struck out 29 batters while giving up just 54 hits in 52 innings pitched.
Witkowski and Sareyka were also given the Gold Glove award, an NCCAA award given to two student-athletes per eligible team.Â
Kendric Sorgius of Oakland City was named Player of the Year and Gehrig Tenhumberg of Oakland City was named Pitcher of the Year.
