The Lancaster Bible College field hockey team welcomed Goucher to the Donald H. Funk Field at the Willis and Marth Herr Stadium on Tuesday, September 16th. The Chargers would start the 2025 home season with a 3-2 win against the Gophers, as they improve to 2-2 on the year and the Gophers fall to 1-4.
How it Happened:
The Chargers would be the first team to apply pressure in this game, earning a penalty corner 1:50 into the first period. Later in the same period,
Bailey Simmons would put a shot on goal that would be saved. The Gophers would follow up with some of their own pressure late in the period forcing
Amanda Hoover to earn a save at 9:25 in the first period. The period would end scoreless.
Lancaster Bible would come out with offensive pressure in the second period forcing a shot on a goal by
Mira Rineer followed up by a penalty corner. The Chargers would capitalize on the opportunity with a goal by
Riley Danko assisted by
Ellie Bollinger. The Gophers would respond with pressure of their firing two shots on goal, both saved by
Amanda Hoover. The period ended with the Chargers leading 1-0.
Entering the third period, the Chargers would be the first to strike with
Riley Danko scoring her second goal of the game. The Gophers would respond within a minute with a goal of their own to keep the game close at the 37:15 mark of the game. Pressure would continue to build against Lancaster Bible as Goucher would forcing three penalty corners and two shots. However, it would be the Chargers to find the back of the net at 40:04 off a shot that was saved and rebounded to
Riley Danko for her third goal of the game. With time winding down, the Gophers would capitalize on penalty corner in the last minute of the period to keep the game within one score.
The Chargers would force one save by the Gophers early in the final period, after a green card by the Gophers. The rest of the period would be Goucher trying all they could to tie the game, but the Chargers defense held strong. Goucher would record two shots on goal that were both saved, including one as the horn sounded.
By the Numbers:
The Chargers were outshot by the Gophers 10-18 but earned more shots on goal 9-8. The Chargers would earn six penalty corners compared to Gophers 12. Each team would record six saves.
Riley Danko would be the Chargers lone goal scorer with three and Madison Zubo scoring two for the Gophers.

This would mark first time Lancaster Bible has beat Goucher.
