The Lancaster Bible College Women's Volleyball team returned home to the Horst Athletic Center on Tuesday night as they hosted York (Pa.), falling in four sets at home. The Chargers fall to 2-7 overall while the Spartans improve to 4-4 overall.
How it Happened:
The Chargers got off to a 6-2 start after a kill and two service aces by junior
Lea Sareyka, but the Spartans battled back to within one point. York (Pa.) later had a four-point run to tie the set at 11-11, then LBC had four of the next five points behind two more kills from Sareyka. The Spartans chipped away as they took a 23-19 lead, but the Chargers fought back to tie it at 24 apiece on a block by junior
Eden Belford. York (Pa.) got two straight kills by Alex Helm to close out set one 26-24.
It was the Spartans that got out to the early lead in set two at 5-1, but kills by senior
Jessica Hendricks and junior
Jessica Fletcher helped the Chargers finish a four-point run to take the lead 7-6. LBC then launched a huge run of seven points highlighted by four Charger kills and a service ace by junior
Madeline Reed. The Chargers held the lead steady for the rest of the set, finishing it off with a kill by senior
Riley Dodrer to take set two 25-17 and tie up the match at 1-1.
After the Spartans took another early lead, Hendricks landed her first career service ace to cap a four-point run for the Chargers for a 7-6 lead. York (Pa.) put together a 6-1 scoring run to regain the lead, then fended off the Chargers for the rest of the set and closed it out 25-15 after winning seven of the final eight points. The Chargers used kills from Dodrer and Fletcher to pull ahead in the fourth set, but York (Pa.) snatched the lead back with a five-point run at 7-4. The Spartans kept the Chargers at arm's length for the remainder of the set and closed it out 25-16, handing the Chargers their fifth straight loss.

Information to Know:
The Chargers are now 3-5 all-time against York (Pa.) and end a three-game win streak against the Spartans. This is the Chargers' first five-game losing streak since the 2022 season and their first time losing back-to-back home matches since October 15, 2022.
