Chargers Take Down Giants at Home

The Lancaster Bible College Men's Basketball team had their first home game of 2026 as they played host to Keystone in United East play on Saturday afternoon, earning a big 96-74 win. The Chargers improve to 11-4 overall and 3-0 in the United East while the Giants fall to 3-13 overall and 1-4 in the United East.
 
How it Happened:
Camden Hurst (Jr.) got LBC started with a layup, then Nile Austin (Sr.) hit a 3-pointer on the wing for a 5-2 LBC lead. The Chargers went up five after a three by Jacob Lewis (Fr.), then extended the lead to nine on a pair of free throws by Marco Cabezas (Jr.) for a 17-8 advantage. Keystone began to climb back into the game as they cut the lead to two with 11 minutes left in the half, then tied the game at 23-23 a few minutes later before Hurst got the lead back with a score. The lead was then swapped four times within a minute as the Giants and Chargers traded quick scores, then Hurst and Mark Heidebrecht (Sr.) put together a quick 6-0 run for the Chargers to take the lead. It was Tyshaun Pulley (Sr.) and Bennett Bowers (So.) that powered LBC to close the half with good scores to give the Chargers a 44-37 lead at halftime.
 
The Chargers got the lead up to nine early after a layup by Connor Storr (Jr.) and a dunk by Hurst, then broke the lead to double-digits on a three by Austin. The Chargers capped an 11-point burst on a three by Lewis, then Heidebrecht later finished a three-point play on a layup for a 64-44 Chargers lead. The lead stayed consistent for the Chargers as they rotated the lineup, seeing consistent points by Storr and Hurst with made threes throughout by Austin and points inside by Heidebrecht and Bowers. The lead got as large as 24 points for Lancaster Bible as they wrapped up the 96-74 win at home to stay unblemished in United East play.
 
By the Numbers:
- The Chargers shot a season-best 60-percent from the floor, 39-percent from 3-point range, and shot a season-high 89-percent from the free throw line
- The Giants shot 39-percent from the floor, 35-percent from three, and 74-percent on free throws
- Camden Hurst led the Chargers with 26 points and two blocks
- Mark Heidebrecht had a career-high 13 points off the bench
- Nile Austin added 12 points and six rebounds on 4-5 shooting from three
- The Giants were led by PJ Murphy with a team-high 26 points on 6-6 free throw shooting
 
Information to Know:
The Chargers earn their first win over Keystone in program history and improve to 3-0 in United East play for the first time since 2022-23, finishing 15-1 and winning the conference title. The Chargers improve to 5-0 at home this season and have won six straight regular season home games dating back to last season. Both Camden Hurst and Connor Storr reached 800 career points in today's game.
