Men’s Basketball Gets Conference Win at Brandywine

The Lancaster Bible College Men's Basketball team traveled to Media, Pa. on Wednesday night for a United East matchup with Penn St. Brandywine, winning by a score of 96-82. The Chargers improve to 10-4 overall and 2-0 in the United East while the Lions drop to 7-8 overall and 2-1 in the United East.

How it Happened:
Connor Storr (Jr.) got LBC started with their first five points, then Nile Austin (Sr.) knocked down an early 3-pointer for an 8-5 Charger lead. Storr added another early score and Reaves Hooks (Sr.) hit an open three, then Tyshaun Pulley (Sr.) hit a three to cap a 10-0 Chargers run to take an 18-8 lead. Storr continued to power the offense as he hit a three to make it a 14-point lead, but the Lions went on a quick run to cut the lead in half to just seven. Pulley got the lead right back up to 14 after hitting a three, though Penn St. Brandywine fought right back to cut it to six with two minutes left in the half. Pulley completed an and-one jumper to end the half as the Chargers led by ten at 48-38 heading into halftime.

Camden Hurst (Jr.) started the Chargers off in the second half with an and-one layup, then Bennett Bowers (So.) and Austin each hit threes en route to a 15-4 scoring run to open the half for LBC. Just over six minutes into the half, the Chargers reached their largest lead of the game at 24 points as Mark Heidebrecht (Sr.) made a layup, then again after Hurst got another to go. The Chargers kept the distance at around 20 points up until the seven-minute mark of the second half, where Brandywine tried to chip back in after stringing a few buckets together. However, solid free throw shooting by the Chargers down the stretch helped seal the 14-point road victory and move to 2-0 in conference play.
