Lancaster Bible College Athletics

The Lancaster Bible College Women's Volleyball team traveled to Allentown, Pa. for a United East matchup with Cedar Crest on Saturday morning, earning a 3-0 sweep on the road. The Chargers improve to 7-9 overall and 4-1 in the United East while the Falcons drop to 4-12 overall and 1-4 in the United East.
 
How it Happened:
Madison Reap (Jr.) led the Chargers early from behind the line with a service ace while Chloe Belford (Sr.) had a pair of kills as LBC took a 6-1 lead. Lea Sareyka (Sr.) then had back-to-back aces as the Chargers' lead extended to 10-4, then Eden Belford (Sr.) had two straight kills for a nine-point LBC lead at 16-7. The Falcons responded with a three-point run before the teams traded points, then Eden Belford ended the set with a kill for a 25-16 opening win.
 
Cedar Crest had the early advantage in set two as they maintained a two-point lead, that's until a block by Jessica Fletcher (Sr) landed a block to start a three-point swing to put LBC up 8-7. Another quick run of three from LBC was led by two kills and a block by Sareyka, then Hannah Helmer (Fr.) had a kill to put the Chargers up four at 13-9. The Falcons fought back within one point at 16-15, but Fletcher had two kills to get LBC some separation. The Chargers held on down the stretch to win the second set 25-19.
 
It was all Chargers from the jump in set three as they took a 5-0 lead behind several Cedar Crest errors, then Sareyka had two kills to make the lead 9-3 for LBC. The Chargers had a stretch later on where they won eight of nine points, led by two kills and two blocks by Samantha Hey (So.) as the lead stretched to 19-7. Ericka Marks (Fr.) helped seal the deal in set three with a block to win it 25-12 and complete the road sweep in United East play.

The Chargers end a three-game road stretch at 2-1 overall with a 2-0 United East record this week. Madison Reap reached 700 career digs in tonight's match and surpassed both Chloe King (2019-23) and Merli Moser (2002-03) for 16th-Place in program history. Jessica Fletcher also moved into 16th-Place in program history by passing King and Moser, this time in total blocks as she moved up to 114 total blocks. Lea Sareyka moved into 9th in program history in service aces with two today, passing Grace Scheuerman (2012-15) with 158 career aces.
