Field Hockey Takes First Conference Game on Senior Day

The Lancaster Bible College Field Hockey team played their first United East Conference game of the season on Saturday morning at home against Cedar Crest, earning a 3-1 victory. The Chargers improve to 3-6 overall and 1-0 in the United East while the Falcons drop to 3-6 overall and 0-1 in the United East.

**Before the match, LBC Athletics took time to recognize the program's senior student-athletes for the 2026 season, including #33 Riley Danko (Sr.) and #55 Amelia Huey (Gr.).

How it Happened:
The Chargers had a penalty corner and three shots on goal in the first two minutes of the game, opening up the scoring just 86-seconds in as Ayla Zwally (So.) scored the opening goal for an early Chargers lead. Less than two minutes later, the Chargers saw their lead double as Mallie McNatt (Fr.) punched in a score off an assist from Riley Danko for a 2-0 LBC advantage in the first four minutes. The Falcons had a corner late in the period with one shot, but the Chargers carried a 2-0 lead into the second.

Cedar Crest had three early corner opportunities in the second quarter, but the defense held strong as Amelia Huey made a save during the sequence. The Chargers then had the next four corners of the game as Danko and Rebekah Hoover (So.) had shots on goal to keep the intensity up. After two Cedar Crest corners, the Falcons got their first score of the game to cut the deficit to 2-1 with five minutes to go in the half. Danko fired two more shots on goal before halftime as LBC held a one-goal lead.

The Chargers held Cedar Crest without a shot in the third quarter as they had six of their own with four corners as well, finally adding another score in the 40th minute as Bailey Simmons (So.) scored off a corner on a pass from Grace Barnett (Jr.), making the lead 3-1 for LBC with one quarter to go.

Zwally, Danko, and Gracie Hoffman (So.) all put shots on goal in the fourth quarter as the defense backed up each push on offense, fending off four Cedar Crest corners and two shots as they reached the finish line and secured a United East-opening victory at home.
