The Lancaster Bible College Women's Volleyball team traveled north to La Plume, Pa. on Tuesday evening for a United East matchup with Keystone, cruising to a 3-0 victory in straight sets. The Chargers improve to 6-8 overall and 3-1 in the United East while the Giants drop to 4-16 overall and 1-2 in the United East.
How it Happened:
The two teams were tight early, then
Madeline Reed (Sr.) had back-to-back service aces for a 7-5 LBC lead. Keystone then scored four straight points to take the lead before a kill and an ace from
Jessica Fletcher (Sr.) tied the set back up at 9-9. The Giants built their lead back to three, but
Tessa Kwiatkowski (Sr.) had two straight aces to help the Chargers surge ahead 14-13 and force a timeout. The run did not stop there for LBC as Tessa landed two more aces to cap an eight-point burst for an 18-13 Chargers lead. Keystone was able to cut the lead back to two, but the Chargers held on as
Chloe Stenberg (Sr.) had two late kills and Reed had another ace for a 25-19 set win.
A kill and an ace by
Lea Sareyka (Sr.) helped the Chargers build an early 8-3 lead, then after three straight by the Giants, it was all Chargers from that point on as they scored a season-high 14 consecutive points, seeing four total aces by
Lyndsie Bomgardner (Fr.) on the run. The Chargers won set two by their largest margin of the season so far at 25-7.
The Chargers took control right away in set three as Sareyka landed three straight aces en route to a 6-1 lead. That lead ballooned to 13-3 on a six-point LBC run with a kill and an ace by Reed highlighting the run, then
Maggie Kwiatkowski (Jr.) capped another three-point burst for LBC with an ace as the lead stretched to a dozen at 17-5. The Chargers held on despite some push from Keystone as they took set three 25-12 and earned a 3-0 road victory in conference play.

This was the 5th matchup between the Chargers and Keystone all-time and their second time facing off in conference play, with Lancaster Bible improving to 5-0 in the series. The Chargers earned their first true road victory of the season tonight to end their five-game road losing streak (incl. playoffs). The Chargers set a season-high in service aces tonight with 22 and had four different players tally at least four aces.
Jessica Fletcher advanced into 8th-Place in LBC program history in career kills tonight, sitting at 734 total kills and passing Sukey Reed (2001-04) on the all-time list.
