Â
How it Happened:
Tessa Kwiatkowski (Sr.) began the first set with a service ace, then a Chargers block tied the set up at 3-3. The Blue Jays built up a lead as they went up by five, but a kill by
Jessica Fletcher (Sr.) later on got LBC back within two at 13-11. Elizabethtown retook a five-point advantage before the Chargers got hot, scoring four in a row including a service ace from
Madison Reap (Jr.) that tied the set at 19-19. Three straight kills by
Lea Sareyka (Sr.) swung the Chargers in front 22-20, but the Blue Jays fought back to fend off a set point and send the set to extras. Fletcher tied it up at 25-all on a kill, but E-Town scored two in a row as they took the opening set 27-25.
Â
The Blue Jays took control early in the second set with a 4-1 lead, then extended that lead to 9-3 after a few LBC errors. The Chargers began to chip into the lead with a few points as Sareyka and
Eden Belford (Sr.) had kills, but the Blue Jays went on a four-point run to get their lead back up to six points at 18-12. The Chargers made a late push with four straight points as
Maggie Kwiatkowski (Jr.) landed an ace and
Samantha Hey (So.) had a block, but Elizabethtown closed out the set 25-21 to go up 2-0 in the match.
Â
The Chargers took a 3-1 lead in set three as Fletcher and
Hannah Helmer (Fr.) had kills, then E-Town had three straight to swing ahead 5-4. After two tied scores, the Blue Jays won four of five points to go up by four. A kill by Belford later on got LBC back within one point, then an ace by Reap and a kill by Sareyka got the Chargers even at 17-17 to narrow the set. Elizabethtown broke out with a four-point run, but the Chargers swung right back with their own four-point run as Helmer and Fletcher had two kills to tie it up at 22 apiece. LBC fought off two match points to force extras, but another close by the Blue Jays helped them win another tight set 26-24 and complete the sweep of Lancaster Bible.
