Men’s Basketball Clinches #1-Seed in Playoffs as Hurst Nets 1,000th Point

The Lancaster Bible College Men's Basketball team played their final regular season game of the season on Saturday afternoon at Penn St. Harrisburg, racing to a statement 77-54 victory to clinch a share of the United East regular season title and the #1-overall seed in the playoffs starting next week. The Chargers close out the regular season at 19-6 overall and 11-2 in conference while the Lions drop to 15-10 overall and 10-3 in conference.

How it Happened:
The Chargers struck first as Connor Storr (Jr.) knocked down a 3-pointer, then Camden Hurst (Jr.) scored the next five for the Chargers for a 7-2 lead. Storr then got loose for a dunk off a steal, then Mark Heidebrecht (Sr.) got a layup to go as the Chargers started a 9-0 run as Nile Austin (Sr.) and Hurst added threes to put LBC up by 13 about eight minutes in. Next, Hurst hit another three for his 1,000th career point for a 22-8 Chargers lead, then Tyshaun Pulley (Sr.) scored the next five for LBC to keep the lead there. The Lions scored to cut the lead to 12, then the Chargers launched a huge 13-point run with big shots from Storr, Hurst, and Reaves Hooks (Sr.) to open it up to a 25-point deficit. Harrisburg closed the half on a 10-2 run to close the lead to 46-29 entering halftime.

Hurst and Storr each began the second half with scores, then the Lions began to fight back as they went on a 9-0 run to cut the deficit to just 10 at 50-40. The Lions stayed around there before Hurst scored five straight for a 59-43 advantage, then Daniel King (Jr.) got two layups to go to get the lead back to 20 in a hurry for LBC. Bennett Bowers (So.) hit a three to boost the lead as the Chargers were able to hold on, stifling the Lions as they defeated Penn St. Harrisburg 77-54 on the road and clinched a share of the United East regular season title and the #1-overall seed.
