The #1-seed Lancaster Bible College Men's Basketball team hosted their United East Quarterfinal matchup on Saturday afternoon as they hosted #8-seed Wilson, dominating the whole way to an emphatic 117-72 victory to defend home court and advance in the playoffs. The Chargers improve to 20-6 overall and advance to the United East Semifinals on Tuesday while the Phoenix end their season at 10-17 overall.
How it Happened:
The Chargers got off to a thunderous start as they opened on an 11-0 run, with
Camden Hurst (Jr.) scoring the first six points of the game and
Bennett Bowers (So.) knocking down an early 3-pointer. The dominant start continued as
Reaves Hooks (Sr.) hit a three from the top of the key and
Tyshaun Pulley (Sr.) made a layup in fast-break to spurn a 23-4 start. The lead continued to climb after
Trey Grube (Jr.) hit corner threes on back-to-back possessions to ignite the crowd and put the Chargers up 33-9 halfway through the first. Grube's second three sparked a 10-0 LBC run as
Jacob Lewis (Fr.) had a pair of scores, then later on
Marco Cabezas (Jr.) sprinted for a fast-break layup for a 33-point lead. Grube added another three for good measure as the Chargers took a 55-22 lead into the halftime break.
Storr and Hurst drove for scores in the first 33-seconds of the second half for four quick points, then Hurst had another fast-break layup for a 63-25 lead just two minutes in. The Chargers kept pouring as Hooks and Lewis each added threes, then
Landon Zeiset (Fr.) scored four quick points before Grube added another pair of threes for the largest lead of the game at 49 points. Pulley then knocked down two jump shots and Lewis made an and-one layup before Cabezas hit a corner three to put LBC over 100 points for the game with five minutes to play.
Doug Adiok (So.) and Zeiset helped control the game down the stretch with baskets as the Chargers completed a dominant 45-point home playoff victory over the Phoenix to advance the United East Final Four.
