The Lancaster Bible Softball team headed across town to Franklin &Â Marshall for a double header against the Diplomats. The Chargers would win game one (6-4) and drop game two (4-12). The Chargers would move to 7-6 on the year as the Diplomats would move to 6-8 on the year.
Game One:
6-4 Win
How it Happened:
The Chargers would open scoring in the third inning as a
Maddison Atkins single would drive in two runs. The scoring would continue into the top of the fourth inning. A double by
Keira Price would drive in
Amanda Hoover who reached by a walk, and advance
KariAnn Mecke who hit a double of her own.
Kendall Jackman would continue the scoring as a double would score both Price and Mecke, pushing the score to 5-0.
Maddison Atkins would add one more RBI to her game as a single would drive in the Charger's final run as they led 6-0 at the end of the fourth. A late game push by the Diplomats would not be enough, as the Chargers would take game one 6-4.
By the Numbers:
- The Chargers had six runs on nine hits with two errors
- The Diplomats had four runs on seven hits with one error
- Maddison Atkins would earn the win on the mound (5-2) and from the batter's box go 2-4 with a game high three RBI's
- Kendall Jackman would go 1-4 with two RBI's
Game Two:
4-12 Loss (6 inn.)
Just like game one, the Chargers would start the scoring, this time in the first inning.
Rebekah Hoover would double to score
Kendall Jackman.
Carleigh Cleland would follow that up with a double of her own which drover in Hoover.
Maddison Atkins would hit a sacrifice fly to Cleland as they took an early 3-0 lead. The Diplomats would respond quickly by adding two quick ones in the bottom of the first, one earned and another unearned. The Chargers would add onto their lead as another Cleland hit, this time a single, would score Jackman. However, the Diplomats would take full control of the game from here. A three-run bottom of the second would give the lead over to Franklin and Marshall. They would continue to add to their lead with a two run fourth, four run fifth, and a final one run sixth inning.
