Game Recap: Softball |

Home Opener Victory for Chargers

Lancaster Bible softball hosted their first home games of the 2026 season on Tuesday. The Chargers faced off with conference opponent Keystone. The Chargers would take both games as they improve to 11-6 on the year and 4-0 in conference. The Giants would drop to 2-10 on the year and 0-4 in conference.

Game One: 6-0 (Win)

How it Happened:
The Chargers came out ready to go, after a scoreless top of the first by the Giants. Kendall Jackman led off for the Chargers with an inside the park home run, giving them the early 1-0 lead. They would continue this momentum into the bottom of the second, as four singles in a row would lead to the second run of the game, and the bases loaded for Keira Price. Price would hit a double that would score two more, followed up by an Ava Stern ground out that would score the fourth run of the inning. Maddison Atkins would continue to hold the lead for the Chargers as she would pitch to nine batters in three innings, between the third and the fifth. A KariAnn Mecke double in the bottom of the fifth would give the Chargers the 6-0 lead and eventual final score.

By the Numbers:
  • The Chargers scored six runs off twelve hits with two errors
  • The Giants scored zero runs off two hits with zero errors
  • Maddison Atkins would improve to 7-2 adding on one strikeout
  • KariAnn Mecke batted 3-3 with one RBI
  • Keira Price would have the game high two RBIs with Kendall Jackman and Ava Stern each adding one of their own

Game Two: 6-1 (Win)

How it Happened:
Kendall Jackman would get the game started again with a triple in the bottom of the first and score off an Ava Stern sacrifice fly. Two innings of scoreless softball led to the fourth inning. The Giants struck first where a walk would score their first run of the day. The Charges would strike back with five of their own in the bottom of the inning. A sacrifice fly by Ila Rowatti scored the first run of the inning. Grace Goodman and Kendall Jackman added singles of their own, each scoring another run. Finally, a Giant's error would allow the Chargers to tack on the final two runs of the inning giving them a 6-1 lead. While each team would threaten to add runs, neither did and the game would end with the Chargers as the victors.

  • Ava Stern improves to 4-4 adding three strikeouts, along with going 2-2 and one RBI from the plate
