Game Recap: Baseball |

Chargers Split First Day in Myrtle

The Lancaster Bible baseball team headed down to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina to play in the Ripken Experience, March 7th thru March 9th. The Chargers opened up their time down south with a double header against Delaware Valley. The Chargers would go 1-1 on the day, dropping the first and bouncing back in the second.
Game One: 4-5 Loss (7 Inn.)
It would not take the Aggies long to get on the board as a four hit, one stolen base, and one runner reached by error bottom of the first would put them up 3-0 on the Chargers. The game would settle down for the next few innings as both teams would tally only one combined hit between the second and third innings. The fourth would give Lancaster Bible hope as a Shane Stephan single along with Evan Sareyka getting hit by a pitch put two runners on. Tanner Smith would drive both runners home with a two RBI double, followed by an Alex Fox double to tie the game 3-3. Following a scoreless fifth and sixth inning, Dylan Witkowski would double to start off the seventh, eventually advancing to third on a throwing error. Everett Bell's sacrifice fly would score Witkowski giving the Charger's a 4-3 lead heading to the bottom of the seventh. The Aggies first hit since the first inning would be a single followed by a second single to give them two base runners. After a fly out that would advance the runners, a single by Delaware Valley would drive in both runners to end the game 5-4.

Evan Sareyka would drive in the Chargers second run with a single to center to put them up 2-1 at the end of three. Lancaster Bible would keep things rolling as a Witkowski single, a wild pitch, and a Stephan single would add four more runs in the bottom of the fourth.
