Chargers Dominate in Sweep of Rosemont

The Lancaster Bible College Baseball team had a road United East double-header on Saturday afternoon as they traveled to face Rosemont, sweeping the day with dominant wins of 15-2 and 27-4. The Chargers improve to 12-12 overall and 7-3 in conference while the Ravens drop to 5-17 overall and 0-9 in conference.
 
Game 1: 15-2 Win (8 inn.)
 
How it Happened:
The Chargers scored in the 1st inning after a pair of walks and a RBI-single by Evan Sareyka (Sr.), then Rosemont answered in the bottom frame with one of their own to make it 1-1 after one. LBC got the lead back in the 2nd as CJ Peterson (So.) hit a two-run single to make it 3-1, then Shane Stephan (Jr.) hit into a groundout that drove a run in as LBC went up by three. After a scoreless 3rd, Stephan hit a RBI-double in the 4th inning to extend the lead, then scored later on to make it 6-1 Chargers. Rosemont added another in the bottom frame to cut it to four, then neither team scored until the 7th inning when Tanner Smith (Sr.) hit a single, driving in a run to make it a 7-2 game. The Chargers put the game away in the top of the 8th, starting with a RBI-single by Stephan to make it 8-2. Then, Dylan Witkowski (Sr.) was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and Sareyka drew a walk, bringing two more runs in. Then, Smith reached on an error that allowed three more runners to score, then a RBI-triple by Nate Rosenzweig (Jr.) followed by him scoring on an error capped a huge eight-run inning to help put away the Ravens 15-2 in eight innings.
 
By the Numbers:
- The Chargers scored 15 runs on 11 hits and six RBI with no errors, while the Ravens had two runs on nine hits with one RBI and seven total errors
- Shane Stephan led the Chargers with three hits, scoring twice and driving in three RBI
- Nate Rosenzweig added three hits as well with one RBI and two runs scored
- Evan Sareyka went 2-3 with two walks and two runs scored, adding one RBI
- Noah Robinette (W, 4-1) earned the win on the mound, tying a season-high at 7.0 innings and allowing just two earned runs on eight hits with two strikeouts
- The Ravens were led by Brody Lykes with two hits including a double and one RBI

How it Happened:
The Ravens got the early lead as they scored three runs in the 1st inning, but LBC had the equalizer in the 2nd as Nate Rosenzweig hit a two-run double and then scored on a single by CJ Peterson, tying the game at 3-3. LBC then took the lead in the 3rd on a RBI-single by Evan Sareyka, then never looked back as they piled on in the 4th inning. First, Logan Grimm (Fr.) scored on an error, then Dylan Witkowski brought one home on a single and Shane Stephan scored after a walk by Sareyka, then Tanner Smith blasted a two-run home run to make it 9-3 Chargers. Rosemont got one back in the bottom frame, then the Chargers had another explosion of offense in the 5th as five different Chargers had RBI hits, including Josh Stevens (Jr.)'s first career RBI to extend the lead out to 18-4 after five. In a close repeat of the 5th, the Chargers scored another nine runs in the 7th inning as Grimm hit his first career home run and Aidan Schwalm (Fr.) got his first career RBI on a two-run double, capping a huge day as the Chargers won 27-4 over the Ravens for the two-game sweep.
 
By the Numbers:
- The Chargers scored 27 runs on 21 hits and 15 RBI with two errors, while the Ravens had four runs on 10 hits and three RBI with four errors
- CJ Peterson went a perfect 4-4 for the game with one RBI and two runs scored to lead the Chargers
- Evan Sareyka added three hits and two RBI with two walks and two runs scored
- Shane Stephan had two hits and three RBI with three runs scored
- Logan Grimm hit his first career home run in the 7th inning
- Trevor Bertsch (Fr.) (W, 3-4) got the win for the Chargers, throwing 4.0 innings with four earned runs on nine hits and one walk
- The Ravens were led by Isaac Bugman with two hits and two RBI
 
Information to Know:
The Chargers are now 6-1 all-time against Rosemont and have scored 10+ runs against the Ravens in six of their seven matchups. The Chargers' 27 runs in game two are the most runs scored in a game this season and the most since April 15, 2024 when they beat Valley Forge 31-10 at home. Shane Stephan recorded his 100th career hit in the first game today, now at 104 career hits at the end of two games.
