Boles, Durkin Named NCCAA Student-Athletes of the Week

The National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) released their weekly award winners on Monday afternoon, with the Chargers claiming two honors as Donavan Boles (So.) and Kyle Durkin (So.) each earned NCCAA Student-Athlete of the Week honors for Baseball (Boles) and Men's Outdoor Track & Field (Durkin). This is Boles' first career weekly honor while Durkin collects his second weekly award from the NCCAA this season.

Boles has lit it up for the Chargers this season from the plate, showing out this past week with a .714 batting average across three games on 10-14 hitting. Donavan had half of his hits go for extra bases this week, including four total doubles and one home run on a two-run blast against Penn St. Brandywine on Saturday. Boles drove in nine total RBI with six runs scored as the Chargers went 2-1 in conference play, including their first two wins on the Chargers' new expanded field against Notre Dame (Md.) on Wednesday and game two against the Lions on Saturday. His slugging percentage for the week ended at an astounding 1.214 with a .733 on-base percentage, tallying an OPS of 1.947 in LBC's three United East games as they locked up their spot in the postseason. In the NCCAA, Boles currently ranks first in the nation in both batting average (.507) and OPS (1.398) as the Chargers rank first as a team in the NCCAA with a .332 average as well, with Donavan also leading the country with an .841 slugging percentage.

Durkin earned NCCAA weekly honors for the second time with a record-setting performance in the Javelin Throw on Saturday. Kyle threw for 59.66 Meters at the Millersville Invite, winning the event and shattering his own LBC program record by over three meters. Durkin now ranks first in the United East in the Javelin Throw by over four meters (15 feet) and ranks second in the NCCAA in the event, just one inch behind the leader. Additionally, Kyle is now 23rd in all of NCAA Division III in Javelin Throw, putting him among the national leaders in the event and close to qualifying for the National Championships for NCAA.

Boles and the Baseball team have four road games this week as the regular season winds down, traveling to face Notre Dame (Md.) in conference play on Tuesday, April 21 followed by a non-conference bout with Franklin & Marshall on Wednesday, April 22 at Lancaster Stormers, ending the week with a United East double-header at Penn St. Berks on Saturday, April 25 to end conference play. Durkin and the Men's Outdoor Track & Field team have one more regular season meet as they compete in the Tune-Up Meet hosted by Elizabethtown College on Friday and Saturday, April 24-25.
