The Lancaster Bible College Baseball team played at Penn Medicine Park in Lancaster, Pa. on Wednesday evening for a non-conference matchup with Franklin & Marshall, falling in a tight one by a score of 10-9. The Chargers drop to 15-15 overall and 10-4 in the United East while the Diplomats improve to 19-15-1 and 5-9-1 in the Centennial.

How it Happened:
The Chargers scored right away in the 1st inning after
Shane Stephan (Jr.) scored on a steal attempt by
Dylan Witkowski (Sr.), giving LBC its only lead of the game as the Diplomats rallied for five runs in the 2nd to take a 5-1 advantage. The Chargers got a few back in the top of the 3rd as three total hit-by-pitch helped LBC score two runs on a RBI-single by
Evan Sareyka (Sr.) and a sacrifice fly by
Tanner Smith (Sr.). Franklin & Marshall got those back plus another in the 4th to go up 8-3 in the game, but the Chargers had an answer right after in the top of the 5th. Smith drove in two runs on a single up the middle to cut the lead to three, then later in the inning
CJ Peterson (So.) lined a single through the left side with the bases loaded, scoring two more to cut the deficit to just one at 8-7. The Diplomats increased their lead again in the bottom frame with two runs, but in the 7th inning the Chargers got both back as
Malachi Sloane (Jr.) had a RBI-sac fly and
Royale Baker (Fr.) scored on a wild pitch, making it 10-9 F&M. The Chargers got the tying run in scoring position in the 9th, but could not score as they fell by one run to the Diplomats.

The Chargers are now 0-3 all-time against Franklin & Marshall and have played all three matchups as the road team against the Diplomats. This was the closest margin of defeat (one run) in the matchup series and the most runs the Chargers have scored against F&M in their three meetings at nine.
