Men's Track & Field Mark Rowles

Chargers Tally 11 Medals, Five Champions on Day 1 of United East Action

The Lancaster Bible College Men's and Women's Outdoor Track & Field teams began United East Outdoor Championship competition on Saturday in La Plume, Pa. at Keystone College, earning 11 combined medal finishes with five total event champions at the end of day one. The Women's team finishes the day tied for first in team points with St. Mary's (Md.) at 69 while the Men's team ranks second at 72 team points.
 
Track Action
 
The Men's team clinched a pair of medal finishes on the track on day one. David Helms (Jr.) began the weekend with a Gold-medal finish in the 10,000-Meters at a time of 34:58.42, winning the race by eight seconds and securing back-to-back first-place finishes at the United East meet in the 10K. Helms also set a United East record in the 10,000-Meters as he bested the previous record by over eight seconds. Gavin Hunter (Fr.) was the other top-3 finisher for the Chargers, placing third in the 400M Hurdles with a personal-best time of 58.16 to earn the Bronze medal in the event. Hunter also qualified for the finals in the 200-Meters tomorrow afternoon, squeezing into the field with an eighth-place preliminary finish at 23.33 by two hundredths of a second. In other sprinting action, Karahn Garfield-Cotton (Sr.) ran a time of 11.95 in the 100-Meters for 17th-place and finished 17th in the 200-Meters as well with a time of 24.68, while Kingsiah Oquendo (Fr.) set a personal record in the 200 at 25.10. In the distance events, Victor Hanley (Fr.) placed eighth in a pair of events, running a time of 42:49.41 in the 10,000-Meters and finishing at 12:27.73 in the 3,000M Steeplechase, while Dustin Frantz (Gr.) set a personal-best time in the Steeplechase at 13:37.27 for ninth overall.
 
The Women's team placed three on the podium in the first day of track action, highlighted by a Gold-medal finish by Faith Garber (Jr.) in the 400M Hurdles, finishing at 1:19.29 for her first career gold medal. Also clinching a medal in the 400M Hurdles was Mycah Wilkinson (Fr.), setting a PR with a time of 1:26.10 to take third place for her first-ever United East medal with a Bronze. In the 10,000-Meters, Seana Dougherty (So.) earned the Bronze for the Chargers with a time of 41:54.57 for a season-best finish in the event. In the 100-Meters, Lizzie Dimov (So.) showed out for Lancaster Bible as she clinched a spot in the finals tomorrow at fourth-place while also breaking the LBC program record with a time of 13.24. Dimov also ran strong in the 200-Meters, just missing the finals with a ninth-place finish at 27.92. Garber also competed in the 100-Meters, making the cut at 13.68 for tomorrow's finals. In other track action, Audrey Vosburg (Sr.) placed fifth in the 400M Hurdles with a personal-best time of 1:34.28 and Rosa Johnson (Jr.) set a PR in the 10K at 48:24.16 for a fourth-place finish.
 
Field Action
 
The Men's Team boasted three medalists, two event champions, and six top-5 finishers in field events on day one. Emery McCombs (So.) made a statement in his first event of the weekend, obliterating his own program record in the Hammer Throw by over five meters as he took home the Gold medal at 46.77m, almost six feet further than the next finisher. McCombs clinched his second straight United East title in the Hammer Throw, winning in 2025 as well with a throw of 39.89 Meters. The Chargers had a second champion as well as Kyle Durkin (So.) went back-to-back in the Javelin Throw, winning the event with a throw of 58.28 Meters and shattering the United East meet record that he previously held. Wrapping up the podium finishes was Landon Zeiset (Fr.) in the Long Jump, claiming second place at 6.56 Meters for the Silver medal. In other action, Hudson Gosselin (Fr.) landed fourth in both the Hammer Throw and Javelin Throw, finishing at 40.20 Meters in the Hammer Throw and topping 50 meters in the Javelin Throw at 50.04 Meters. Lucas Durkin (Sr.) rounded out the top-5 in the Hammer Throw at 39.17 Meters while Micah Richardson (Sr.) earned two team points for LBC with an eighth-place finish in both the Javelin Throw (39.52m) and the Long Jump (6.11m) with a fifth-place finish in the Pole Vault (3.55m) as well. Aidan Miller (So.) placed seventh in the Long Jump at 6.21 Meters and Ethan Gonzalez (Fr.) set a personal record in the event at 5.53 Meters.
 
The Women's team landed three medalists on day one in the field with six top-5 finishers and one event champion as Elly Bruner (Jr.) took home Gold in the High Jump at 1.58 Meters to sweep the High Jump (indoor/outdoor) for the season. Bruner collected a second medal as well as she placed second in the Long Jump, taking Silver as she broke the LBC program record at 5.13 Meters. Martha Weaver (Jr.) led the Chargers in the throws, placing third in the Hammer Throw at 40.43 Meters for her second career Bronze medal and third total medal in the event. Weaver also placed fourth in the Javelin Throw, finishing at 29.08 Meters. Garber and Vosburg tied for fifth overall in the High Jump with heights of 1.18 Meters each while Dimov ranked seventh in the Long Jump at 4.47 Meters. In the Hammer Throw, McKayla Vetterani (So.) set a personal best at 27.96 Meters, finishing 11th in the event.
