Chargers Fall at Home to Randolph-Macon

The Lancaster Bible College Field Hockey team hosted Randolph-Macon here in Lancaster on Thursday afternoon, falling by a score of 7-1. The Chargers drop to 1-5 overall while the Yellow Jackets improve to 5-3 overall.

How it Happened:
After an early save by Amelia Huey (Gr.) in goal, the Chargers drew the first penalty corner of the game as Ayla Zwally (So.) took the ball, dishing it out to Riley Danko (Sr.) who punched in for a goal, giving LBC the early advantage. The Yellow Jackets picked up momentum with another shot and two penalty corners, capitalizing on the second one as they scored the tying goal to make it 1-1 early on, heading into the second quarter at a tie score.

Randolph-Macon had the early possession before scoring five minutes into the quarter to take the lead 2-1 on the road. They took five more shots in the quarter to pressure the LBC defense, but Huey made one save and the team had a penalty kill to trail by just one after 30 minutes.

The Yellow Jackets extended their lead early in the third quarter as they connected on a goal three minutes in, then drew three more corners throughout the period but could not add another as the defense looked to keep LBC in the game.

The floodgates opened in the fourth quarter for the RMC offense, adding two more goals in the first five minutes to go up 5-1 quickly. Randolph-Macon scored twice more towards the end of the game, holding the Chargers to just one shot in the game as they took home a dominant road win.
