Field Hockey Suffers Road Loss at Eastern

The Lancaster Bible College Field Hockey team traveled to St. Davids, Pa. on Saturday morning to take on Eastern in non-conference play, falling by a score of 7-0. The Chargers drop to 1-6 overall while the Eagles improve to 7-1 overall.

How it Happened:
The Eagles attacked early with two penalty corners and three shots in the first 10 minutes, but Amelia Huey (Gr.) made three saves before the Eagles punched in the opening score in the 11th minute. The Chargers then took the ball and had a shot on goal by Riley Danko (Sr.) that was saved, then Eastern scored another goal about a minute later to take a 2-0 lead into the second period.

Eastern did some more damage in the early minutes of quarter two, scoring twice within a minute to double their lead. The Chargers had a penalty corner late in the quarter with a shot wide by Danko, trailing 4-0 at halftime on the road.

It was the Chargers with the early momentum to start the second half, seeing Danko, Gracie Hoffman (So.) and Ayla Zwally (So.) all take shots on goal with three corners as well, but the Eastern defense held strong to fend off the attack. The Eagles found the scoring column again towards the end of the quarter, taking a 5-0 lead into the final 15 minutes.

Off a penalty corner, Danko fired two more shots on goal that were both saved, then Lily Wood (Fr.) had a shot that missed wide. The Eagles added two more scores to cap off a big home victory over Lancaster Bible on Saturday.
