Game Recap: Field Hockey | | Mark Rowles

Field Hockey Dethrones Monarchs 3-0 at Home

The Lancaster Bible College Field Hockey team hosted their final non-conference game of the season as they took on King's (Pa.) in Lancaster, claiming a 3-0 victory for their second win of the year. The Chargers improve to 2-6 overall while the Monarchs fall to 1-8 overall.

How it Happened:
The teams traded possession for the first five minutes before the Monarchs drew a penalty corner that resulted in a blocked shot for no score, then the Chargers swung the field as Gracie Hoffman (So.) had a shot saved by the King's (Pa.) keeper. Lancaster Bible put together another pressure on goal a few minutes later as Mallie McNatt took a deflection off a defender and punched the ball through, scoring her first carer goal to give the Chargers a 1-0 advantage at home after one quarter of play.

Goalkeeper Amelia Huey (Gr.) made an early save in goal for LBC off a corner, then the Monarchs had two shots that went wide before a shot on goal by Riley Danko (Sr.) that forced a save. About a minute later, Hoffman gathered the loose ball and knocked in a score to double the Chargers' lead to 2-0, adding two more late shots off a corner to carry the advantage into the halftime break.

The Monarchs had three shots on goal in the first three minutes of the second half, but Huey made two saves and Rebekah Hoover (So.) came up with a defensive save to stave off the attack. McNatt then had a shot on goal that was saved to force a corner where Danko had a shot blocked, then King's (Pa.) came down the field and drew a corner with two shots off of it, but a Huey save and a defensive save by Danko kept them off the board heading into the fourth.

McNatt got free on offense early in the fourth quarter, but a goalie save stopped the chance. A few minutes later, the Chargers had a corner opportunity that Danko capitalized on with a shot off a deflection, scoring the Chargers' third goal of the game to extend the lead. The Monarchs had one more corner in the game, but could not score as the Chargers closed out the home shutout win to wrap up September.
