The Lancaster Bible College Women's Soccer team open up their United East Conference slate on the road on Saturday afternoon against Cairn, fighting to a 1-1 draw. The Chargers move to 2-4-1 overall and 0-0-1 in the United East while the Highlanders move to 5-1-2 overall and 0-0-1 in the United East.
How it Happened:
The Chargers earned a corner kick in the first minute of the game with
Rayanna Wagaman (Fr.) putting a shot on goal that was saved. After two more corner kicks, the Chargers broke through in the 27th minute as Wagaman connected on her second goal of the season, putting the Chargers on top to start conference play. Goalkeeper
Saige Santa Cruz (Jr.) made a save before
Jade Weir (Gr.) had a shot that missed to the right, with the Chargers holding onto a 1-0 lead on the road heading into halftime.
Lancaster Bible controlled the first 20 minutes of the second half with five more corner kicks and five total shots, with Wagaman, Weir, and
Haley Moyer (Sr.) missing wide and high and
Samantha Perloni (Sr.) putting a shot on goal that was saved.
Courtney Smith (Fr.) had a close shot on goal that was stopped, then as the clock ran under 10 minutes remaining in the match, the Highlanders broke through after a deflected shot was recovered and punched through the LBC defense to tie up the score at 1-1. The Chargers went on the attack with two shots and two corners down the stretch, but could not break the tie as the teams battled to a 1-1 draw to open up United East action.

The Chargers have now faced Cairn 26 times in all since beginning play in the 2002 season, with this being just their third draw all time and the first since 2009. This is also the Chargers' first draw in 34 matches and their first since September 24, 2024 at Goucher.
