Chargers Fall to Penn State Harrisburg

The Lancaster Bible College men's tennis ran into a buzzsaw on Tuesday and its name was Penn State Harrisburg. The Nittany Lions crushed the Chargers, 9-0 as LBC fell to 0-2 for the year.

Penn State Harrisburg's top two players are NCAA Division I transfers and had no problem with LBC's Taylor Lantz and Brandon Klinger whom they defeated at number one singles, as well as first and second singles.

"Penn State Harrisburg's number one and two are on a different level then any of our players," Chargers' Head Coach Zach Freeman said. "They are great players and I think our guys learned a few things today."

The rest of LBC's team didn't do much better against a Nittany Lions' team that has talent top to bottom. The spotlight of the day came from Eric Flick who lost to Vinnie Lepore, 6-1, 6-4. Flick, a senior who hasn't played in a tennis match since high school, used his quick serve and quick feet to make a match of it in the second set before falling to Lepore.

"Flick played great today," Freeman said. "He is obviously a little rusty from such a long layoff, but he has lots of potential and it will be nice to see how he develops over the course of the season."

The Chargers are back in action later this week against Baptist Bible College at a time and date yet to be determined due to the approaching weather.
