The Lancaster Bible men's tennis team needed very little luck on St. Patrick's Day to defeat Mount Aloysius as the Chargers cruised to an 8-1 victory in Cresson, Pa.
Alex Derus,
Grant Noel,
Jeremy Davis and
Dan Soden each won a doubles and singles match for the Chargers. Derus and Noel made quick work of their number one doubles opponents, winning 8-2, and did the same to their singles' opponents as Derus won, 6-2, 6-1 and Noel won, 6-2, 6-0.
Davis didn't drop a game all day as he won his number three singles match, 6-0, 6-0 and teamed up with
Justin Bendo to win number three doubles, 8-0. Soden won, 6-0, 6-1 at number four singles, while freshman
Tedd Holbrook improved to 2-0 this season with a convincing, 6-0, 6-2 victory at number five singles. Bendo fought hard at number six singles, but lost to the Mounties' Bryson Long, 6-3, 7-6 (5).
Alex Ko and Soden combined for an 8-2 victory at number two doubles.
The Chargers (2-1) will look to extend their winning streak to three matches on Tuesday when they take host Albright at 3:30 p.m. The match is a doubleheader with the women and will take place at Linden Hall School in Lititz, Pa.
