The Lancaster Bible men's tennis team cruised to back-to-back 8-1 victories to open the 2013 spring season. Friday at Neumann, the Chargers were forced to battle back from a 2-1 deficit after dropping the number two and three doubles matches.
LBC was able to do just that as they took four of the six singles matches en route to their third straight victory. The Chargers are a perfect 3-0 this spring and 3-1 overall for the 2012-13 season. Freshman
Tedd Holbrook won his number five singles match in a third set tie-breaker to give LBC the win. Holbrook defeated Todd del Sordo, 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 (9-7) as he battled back after dropping the opening set.
"The whole day was crazy," Chargers' Head Coach Ethan McNaughton said. "4 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. is a long time to stay focused and play tennis, but the guys battled and I couldn't be happier for them."
In addition to Holbrook's singles victory,
Alex Derus won his number one match,
Alex Ko followed at number two with a victory and
Jeremy Davis stayed perfect this spring with a 6-2, 6-0 victory at number four.
The number one doubles team of
Alex Derus and
Grant Noel provided the other win for LBC as they defeated Dustin Broom and Bryan Bodine, 8-5.
LBC is back in action on Monday when they host Eastern at 3 p.m. The match will take place at Linden Hall School in Lititz, Pa.
