The Lancaster Bible men's tennis team opened the spring portion of its schedule on Thursday by crushing Baptist Bible, 8-1 in Clarks Summit, Pa. The Chargers swept the singles matches and their lone loss came at number two doubles as
Dan Soden and
Alex Ko lost a tough match, 9-7.
Soden, playing at number five and freshman
Tedd Holbrook, playing at number six, each won their first collegiate singles matches. Soden and Holbrook each won, 6-0, 6-0, as did senior
Jeremy Davis who defeated Dillon Bowman at number four.
Sophomore
Alex Derus won the match of the day at number one singles as he defeated Adam Benjamin, 6-4, 4-6, 10-4. Ko (#2) and
Grant Noel (#3) also won their single matches.
Derus and Noel won 8-6 at number one doubles, while Davis and
Justin Bendo cruised to an 8-0 victory at number three doubles.
The win is LBC's first in five tries against Baptist Bible.
LBC (1-1) returns to the court on Sunday, March 17 when they face Mount Aloysius at 2 p.m. in Cresson, Pa.
