The Lancaster Bible men's tennis team dropped to 1-1 in North Atlantic Conference West Division action Tuesday as the Chargers lost to Penn St. Berks, 5-4. The loss also marked the first road loss of the season for LBC which fell to 4-1 away from home.
On Tuesday,
Grant Noel and
Jeremy Davis won their number two doubles match, 8-4, but that would be the only point LBC would get from its doubles teams. In singles, number two
Alex Ko dropped the opening set, but rebounded to win, 3-6, 6-2, 6-4. Fellow senior
Jeremy Davis won his number four match, 6-1, 6-0 and improved to 8-0 this season. The point lost by Davis was his first since March 27 when he won, 6-3, 6-1.
Freshman
Tedd Holbrook won the match of the day as he battled back from a first-set loss to win in a super tie-breaker. Holbrook lost the opening set, 7-6 (10-2), but rebounded to take the second set, 7-6 (11-9). Because the overall match had already been decided, the two players took part in a super tie-breaker to 10. Holbrook was able to pull out the victory, 10-7 in the super tie-breaker and improved to 7-1 this spring.
The Chargers (5-4) return to the court on Thursday when they host Penn St. Harrisburg at 3 p.m. LBC will honor its seniors,
Alex Ko,
Jeremy Davis and Kayla Nachtigal prior to the match.
