The Lancaster Bible men's tennis team cracked the win column for the first time in 2014 on Sunday as the Chargers shutout Mount Aloysius, 9-0 in Cresson, Pa.
The number one doubles team of
Alex Derus and
Alex Ko gave the Chargers a quick 1-0 lead as they won 8-0. Number two doubles,
Dan Soden and
Tedd Holbrook, won their match, 8-3, while
Justin Bendo and
Cody Rupp won at number three doubles, 8-5.
In singles, Derus cruised to a number one singles win as he swept Aubrey Brown, 6-2, 6-4. Ko also breezed to a victory at number two singles, as he won 7-6 (7-0), 6-0. Soden, Holbrook and Bendo also won in straight sets, while
Chandler Gillman earned his first singles match victory of the season with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Joey Gearhart at number six singles.
The Chargers (1-1) return to the court on Thursday when they host their first match of the season as they welcome Neumann to the Linden Hall School in Lititz, Pa. The match is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
