Chargers Even NEAC Record with Win Over Keuka

The Lancaster Bible men's tennis team improved to 1-1 in North Eastern Athletic Conference play on Saturday as the Chargers soundly defeated Keuka, 7-2 at Linden Hall School in Lititz, Pa. The victory also improves Lancaster Bible to 2-2 overall this season and the Chargers will look to get over the .500 mark on Sunday when they face Bryn Athyn at 3:30 p.m. in Bryn Athyn, Pa.

On Saturday, Lancaster Bible took two of the three doubles matches as the number one and two doubles teams cruised to victory. The number one doubles team of Alex Derus and Nathan Amspacher won, 8-1, while Tedd Holbrook and Dan Soden won by the same score at number two doubles. The number three doubles team of Justin Bendo and Evan Holbrook lost a tough match, 9-7.

Bendo rebounded in his singles match as he and Rich Matrassi split the first two sets of their number five singles match, but Bendo won the super tie-breaker, 10-6 to take the match. Bendo won, 6-2, 4-6, 10-6 in the match's most competitive tilt of the day. Derus won his number one singles match, 6-0, 6-0, while Amspacher matched that feat in his number two singles match as well.

Holbook defeated Keuka's Zach Allen, 6-2, 6-0 at number three singles, while Soden also won, 6-2, 6-0 in his number four singles match.

After facing Bryn Athyn on Sunday, the Chargers will play for the third straight day on Monday as they face Eastern in St. Davids, Pa. at 3:30 p.m. The Eastern match was originally scheduled for April 23, but would have conflicted with the NEAC playoffs should the Chargers qualify.
